How we work
How AgenticRecs chooses products, where each fact comes from, how the library is organized, what the labels mean, and how the site makes money.
AgenticRecs is an independent library of product briefs and buying guides, written to be read by people and by the AI assistants they ask for help.
How we choose products
We start with products that reputable reviewers recommend again and again, then check each one on the brand's own site. In every category we cover a range of prices, fits and conditions. We include products whether or not we can earn a commission on them.
Where each fact comes from
- Specs, materials and list prices come from the brand's own product page, or from a major retailer when the brand's page can't be read. Each brief names the source and the date we checked it.
- Verdicts, "best for", "not for" and downsides are our summaries of the published reviews listed on each brief. We write them in our own words and link every source.
- Category fields such as warmth or temperature range follow a published scale for each category, listed below. When a value is our estimate rather than a brand claim or a reviewer's report, the brief says so.
- Hands-on testing: AgenticRecs has not tested these products yet. When we do, the brief will say so.
How the library is organized
- Departments group related categories, such as Running.
- Categories hold every brief of one kind, such as running jackets. Every product in a category is described with the same fields, so they can be compared and filtered side by side.
- Briefs are one page per product. A product belongs to one category, and its address stays the same when guides change.
- Guides pick the best products for a specific need, such as running in the cold, and explain how to choose. A product can appear in many guides, and every pick names the guide it comes from.
Scales we use
Running apparel
Used in running base layers & tops, running jackets, running tights & pants, running gloves & mittens, running hats, headbands & gaiters, running socks.
Warmth
- Light: Thin single-layer knit or shell. Roughly 40 to 60°F on its own.
- Midweight: Brushed or grid-fleece interior, or midweight merino. Roughly 25 to 45°F.
- Thermal: Heavy brushed fleece, heavyweight merino, or wind panels over fleece. Roughly 10 to 30°F.
- Insulated: Synthetic or down insulation, or a windproof membrane over fleece. Below about 20°F.
Temperature range
The temperatures a product suits as the main piece of its kind, for steady running. Each range says where it comes from:
- The brand's stated range: The brand states this range.
- From published reviews: Taken from the conditions reported in the cited reviews.
- Our estimate from the construction: Our estimate from the construction, using the warmth scale. Not measured.
Prices
We show each brand's full list price (MSRP) on the date we checked. Retailers often charge less, especially late in the season. We don't show Amazon's prices.
How we make money
Some buying links are affiliate links. If you buy through one, AgenticRecs earns a commission at no extra cost to you. Every paid link is marked "(paid link)" on our pages and flagged "affiliate": true in our data files. Commissions don't decide which products we include or what we say about them, and many products here have no paid link at all.
AgenticRecs has no paid links yet.
Corrections
Prices and models change often. If you spot an error, contact the contact address on this site (not set yet). We date every check so you can see how fresh each fact is.
